TWO of a Kind: Escorte and ProxiEscorte
Magnetic Stripe and Proximity
GCS®
is a market leading manufacturer of data collection systems which can
be used to provide an unfalsifiable record of services which must occur at
predetermined times and places. All GCS® equipment has been designed and tested
to stand up to use (and abuse) in the harshest conditions.
In today’s fast changing information society, sophisticated data collection and auto-ID systems are becoming more important
than ever.
To meet the increasingly high demands of data collection systems GCS®
has further developed its Escorte range of data collection units. The GCS® ‘Proxi-Escorte’
is the first robust data collection unit for “touchless” proximity identification
which also satisfies high demands in industrial
applications.
Data Collection -
ESCORTE and PROXI-ESCORTE
Our Escorte and Proxi-Escorte units are solid, lightweight and easy to handle because they function without any
operating elements. The electronics
of the unit are sealed in silicon, making it completely waterproof, shock, heat
and acid-resistant. The unit housing is made of polycarbonate, the same material
used for motorcycle helmets. As the low power consumption of the electronic circuit allows the use of alkaline batteries, no repeated, time-consuming re-charging is
needed. Escorte and Proxi-Escorte have extremely high memory capacity, and can
be used for long periods in the field without the need for intermediate read outs.
For use in sites subject to the risk of explosion, an intrinsically safe ATEX-version
of the ESCORTE unit is also available.

Easy working
Both Escorte and Proxi-Escorte are easy to use, stand-alone
systems that require no computer programming or prior computer experience. The unit
is programmed in Patrol Manager-Mode with a command book or
TopGuard Patrol Software
and reports are generated directly at the printer. In the system-mode both programming
and printing reports can be performed with GCS® software and a PC.
Escorte
The functional
principle of the Escorte data collection unit is based on a unique magnetic code strip, which is patented by GCS®. The
reading head of the Escorte unit is swiped
over the magnetic strip and the data to be read is automatically sorted - without
any further operation. Places, incidents/personnel or functions can be allocated
to all data strips. A visual and an acoustic signal confirm that the data has
been stored correctly.
Proxi-Escorte
Proxi-Escorte is totally compatible with the original
Escorte unit, which has been used successfully for years in guarding, factory security
and maintenance services. Proxi-Escorte can therefore be used in all existing GCS®
applications without any problems. Proxi-Escorte not only reads the standard and
Mega data strips, but also GCS® Transponders (NOVA TAGs only). The touchless identification
and the different sizes of the transponders allow multiple possibilities to fix
the TAGs (for example behind glass or plaster, or in frames). The reading distance extends from 15mm to 30mm. If desired, the current date and time and the Proxi-Escorte-ID
can be registered in the TAG. This makes it possible to know directly on site when
the last check took place (e.g. of a fire extinguisher).
