GCS introduces the latest innovation in guard tour verification technology: the new GCS ProxiPen Data Collection Unit and GCS TopGuard® Patrol reporting software. The ProxiPen’s data points are radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, which the ProxiPen senses and reads automatically whenever they come into its reading range. You don’t need to actually touch the RFID tag; just get close!

This means that the ProxiPen can read a tag even if it is wet, frosty, dirty, greasy, or painted over. In fact, the ProxiPen’s RFID tags may be concealed behind wallpaper, sheetrock, plaster, paneling, mirrors or any other nonmetallic surface; a real plus in applications where aesthetics or vandalism are considerations.

Toughness plus advanced technology – but easy to use. The ProxiPen is compact, lightweight and easy to use since it has no external controls. Correct data readings are confirmed by visible and audible signals. Its electronics are sealed in a tough polycarbonate housing, making the reader completely waterproof and resistant to heat, shock and hydrocarbons.

Change your own battery. With its low power consumption, the ProxiPen delivers 50,000 data readings from one “AA” battery, which you can change yourself without tools. Any stored data is preserved in non-volatile memory. To discourage tampering , the ProxiPen disables itself if a new battery is not immediately inserted upon removal of the old battery. The ProxiPen is then easily reset with the Topguard Patrol software.

GCS TopGuard® Patrol – flexible and user-friendly. The TopGuard Patrol software makes it easy to set up tours, download and evaluate collected data and prepare reports, which may be saved and/or e-mailed in HTML or PDF format. TopGuard Patrol also features fully user-editable text fields, so that the software can be customized to accommodate any data collection application, including maintenance, service, cleaning, attendance and asset tracking. Control points, incidents, personnel, equipment, inventory or activities can be assigned to an RFID tag. Other editions of software are also available for larger or more advanced requirements, such as GCS TopGuard® Patrol Plus which provides extended capacity, more reporting options and other advanced, high-utility features.

The price is right. The ProxiPen kit includes everything you need: a ProxiPen, a data transfer unit, 33 RFID tags, the TopGuard Patrol software, and an incident book – all at an incredibly competitive price. And TopGuard Patrol software can be used with other GCS data collection hardware, including the popular Escorte system – in combination with the ProxiPen if so desired.
